When it comes to chiropractic care, new and current patients have many different questions for Dr. Dan and Dr. Brandon. They have answered the top three questions they normally are asked to help you better understand your chiropractic care.
1. I don’t have back pain, so why should I see a chiropractor?
Interestingly, a majority of InspireChiropractic’s patients do not have back or neck pain. They may have initially come in for those problems, but currently do not come in for those specific issues. In fact, chiropractic does not actually “treat” back or neck pain any more than it treats migraines, headaches, infertility, etc. Our adjustments are designed to reduce stress that is affecting the way your body is functioning and performing at its optimal level. So whether or not you have back or neck pain, most patients come to us to reduce the stress on their bodies that affects the way they are able to function.
2. Is it true that if you start getting chiropractic care, you have to go forever?
We often ask our patients some questions in response. If you start going to the gym and you get healthy, do you have to keep going to stay healthy? Do you wait until you have a cavity to start brushing your teeth? What a lot of patients begin to realize is that it may be harder to get healthy, but once you are it is easier to maintain that level of health. The same is true with chiropractic care. You absolutely do not have to keep coming in for adjustments, but most patients choose to do so because it is the best thing for their bodies to keep functioning throughout their lives. Chiropractic care is all about optimal performance, rather than simply treating symptoms.
3. Is chiropractic care safe?
Every now and then, you’ll see an article in the news pointing out some unfortunate event that occurred with chiropractic care. However, chiropractic care is extremely safe, especially when compared to other medical treatments or prescription drugs. Many patients are nervous about the “popping” or “cracking” noises that are commonly associated with chiropractic care. However, that “popping” noise you hear has nothing to do with your bones. It is actually a release of gas bubbles that have been built up in your joints, and is a totally safe way to release pressure and stress off your body. It is why we are able to treat patients that are hours old to some that are even over 100.
